Mids on my rigid. Stock FXR brackets and shift arm, plus a fabed aluminum plate/shaft to mount it up. A buddy of mine took care of the machining and aluminum welding. I'm pretty psyched.

Rebuild

A while back I had posted some pics of a torn up oil pump drive gear and my gutted FLH. The metal shavings from the gear got into the oil passages and scored up the pistons and jugs. The motor needed a rebuild. Here are some pics of the top-end going back together. Thanks again to my friends who gave me a hand.

Old pistons were scored and needed to come out.

New pistons go in.

A buddy of mine had access to a boring bar and re-cut the jugs.

Heads go on.

It's posted everywhere else, but I'll post it too. S&S X-Wedge motor in an HD FXR frame. This was built by DOUGZ in La Crosse, WI for S&S. Here are some comments found on the web:

"The engine displaces 132 cubic inches and has an all new twin carburetor induction system. Exhaust is a Bassani muffler with primary pipes built by DOUGZ."

"Preliminary computer models suggest this engine will make 130 to 140 horsepower and approximately 150 tree stump pulling foot pounds of torque."

"Doug started with a 1992 chassis, sent it to Rolling Thunder Frameworks for the modifications and had them build a 2 inch stretched swingarm. Works Performance shocks assure a great ride and are adjustable for the inevitable passes down the quarter mile this bike will be accustomed to. Doug used lightweight Harley cast aluminum wheels, stock sheetmetal and brakes – modifying and massaging those and many other stock components saving a chunk of money."

My FLH stopped pumping oil. After a little investigation, turns out it was because the drive gear died. A bunch of metal got into the motor and tore up one of the pistons. Got a bunch of work to do. Glad I have a few good buddies to give me a hand.

They are an alt-country outfit out of Alabama that has been playing and recording some amazing music for quite a while now. If you are a fan of Lucero or Drag the River, than you already know who these guys are. If you've never heard of them, and are a fan of country, alt-country, folk-rock, southern-rock...you get the idea...than check them out.
